The Side-9 Attack commonly referred to as The Side 9 Massacre was the major opening declaration of War engagement conducted by the Zenora Empire Against the Principality of Zeon on October 1st, UC 0096, On the newly Established Colony of Side-9, when the Principality constructed it during the Expansion years.
The attack brought about the elimination of nearly 97 percent of the colonies population which left to the structure being abandoned, and became the major opening engagement to the Zeon Civil War, after Sierra Colony was conquered that same month.
Prelude[]
After The Gryps Conflict[]
After the Gryps II Conflict, Moses, separated from Axis, later followed by Haman Karn, organizing their own faction known as Axis Zeon, on UC 0094.
Despite Haman's death in the First Neo Zeon War, Moses's Stock brought the young girl back from the dead during the events of the Second Neo Zeon War, In UC 0093. The discovery of the Principality of Zeon still being around didn't happen for the 2 until the Zeon Civil War broke out in the fall of UC.96.
It was later discovered that before the Second Neo Zeon War, before Char Aznable became supreme Leader of Neo Zeon, that a planet known as Eris-7 had been colonized by Neo Zeon In UC.0092, where there military power and strength of arms began to grow so strong where by UC 0095 they dissolved into the Zenora Empire.
Zenora's Declaration of War[]
In the wake events of the early fall of UC 0096, On October 30th, Zenora, had become a military power throughout the years after not engaging any military faction at the present time.
With newly constructed Mobile Suits, Newly constructed cruisers, Battleships, Carriers, and several massed produced Mobile Armors, Zenora was now fully Determined to win back their Independence against the Earth Federation and AEUG, in response for two humiliating defeats.
However on November 20th, Glen Kox, a new recruit for the Zenora Imperial military, later discovered Zaku II's and Rick Dom's roaming around in the dense harshness of Space, back to A Baoa Qu.
Surprised and amazed him and his patrols followed them into the ruined Space Fortress where they discover that the Principality of Zeon was still around, and that the Zabi Family were back in power.
Glen's respect for the real Principality of Zeon Deteriorated while hearing one of Gihren's speeches resulting in the Treaty of Granada, and that they will continue to follow the Earth Federation's bidding.
Realizing that Zeon has gone soft, Glen and his party return to Eris-7 where they discuss the whereabouts of the Principality of Zeon still being around, but also the whereabouts of them going soft.
Outraged, Ernest gave speech of his own to both the people and military units of Zenora, stating that the Principality has gone soft and was willing to work for the enemy against their own kind, signaling them as a threat to their plans of Independence.
The Attack[]
On a Thursday during the early fall of UC 0096, Side-9, a recently constructed Colony that had just been completed 2 months prior, was housing some new recruits who had just joined the Principality of Zeon after graduating from the Military academy on Side 3.
However a small battle group of Zenora ships soon arrived at Side-9, and launched a surprise attack against the Colony, striking fear and confusion amongst the colonial population.
The attack was quick to trigger the Colonial Side-9 Zeon Ground forces, however a major line connecting Side-9 to Side 3 was served in the early stages of the attack, but someone was able to get a line off to Side 3 before the broadcast was terminated, prompting the Principality to send in reinforcements in the direction toward Side-9, Unfortunately by the time the reinforcements got to Side-9, It was already too late, the Colony was abandoned and everyone was killed all.
The Zenora Imperial forces have landed Mobile Suits on the Colony and massacred most of the civilians in the Colony, while at the same time overpowering the Side-9 Zeon Ground forces. Out of 40,000,000 People only 40,038 had survived the attack, and fled Side-9 as the colony was being over run.
Aftermath[]
Following the massacre, the Zenora Empire had left behind severe damage all around the Colony, most of the cities that were just recently constructed months prior were now charred ruble, many farming sites had been demolished, and millions of bodies were left scattered amongst the entire Colony, in fact it was so much that Zeon officials couldn't get them all, as the morgues were getting overcrowded to the point that some of the bodies had to be buried out in space.
The wreckage of what used to be the 9th Zeon Ground Battalion were also dead with no survivors, but those who had escaped the Colony prior to the temporary Zenora occupation and later Massacre, had managed to explain to Zeon officials that it were Mobile Suits that they had never saw before, and wore a different Symbol compared to the Principality of Zeon.
The Massacre at Side-9 Sparked outrage amongst the Principality of Zeon, but the answer which revealed the Identity of Zenora being responsible for the Massacre would eventually be uncovered when Sierra Colony was attacked second, beginning the Zeon Civil War.
Legacy[]
The Massacre would eventually be joined with the Destruction of Demarco Colony over 4 months later on January 1st UC 0097, when Zenora Imperial forces turned Gryps II toward the Nexus Sector and used it to destroy Demarco Colony blowing it in two and killing all those inside, leaving only the Zeon forces who were in Mobile Suits left alive.
The Massacre and Destruction of Demarco Colony would eventually plague the Principality of Zeon as the worst and darkest days of the regimes history since the One Year War, and also led to the major offensive against Zenora at Gryps II.
